Association of British Insurers (ABI) has warned that all car insurance customers can get higher premiums on the new measures of age discrimination are implemented.

The proposed Equality Bill would restrict the manner in which insurers use age as a determining factor in assessing risk. According to ABI, the average cost of car insurance claim against someone over 80 is about 50 percent more than any in 60 years. As such, prohibits age as a risk factor may mean that insurance companies take more costly methods to create profits, which asks for medical checks.

If accepted, the proposal may be good news for young drivers, however. Currently, young drivers for large premiums with some insurance companies refuse to even offer coverage to 17-year-olds, since all the risks associated with a high accident rate among this age group. If it becomes necessary for insurers to offer courses in a particular case, pay attention to young drivers may qualify for lower premiums.

But equality before the law goes through, this is speculation. What can young drivers to drive their premiums now?

The first step is to get the right to choose the vehicle - do not drive or any flash with a big engine until you can afford. Search for a conventional car with limited changes to avoid giving the impression that the insurer is a "boy racer". Adding a parent of a policy that the name of the driver goes too sensible because it means more responsibility - do not forget to ask a parent in the face of a policy for you here is illegal.

Another wise to keep pace Plus course immediately after completing your driving test. Normally costing more than £ 100 to get this additional training to prepare you for driving on motorways, at night and in the inner city, but may prove valuable because it can reduce premiums by as much as 35 percent.
